EMDR THERAPY

WE ALL EXPERIENCE TRAUMA

Most of the time our bodies manage new information and experiences without us being aware of it. However, when something out of the ordinary occurs and we experience a one off overwhelming event like a car accident or traumatic birth, or by being repeatedly subjected to distressing circumstances our natural coping mechanism can become overloaded.

This can result in the disturbing feelings, body sensation and beliefs remaining in a “raw” form that can be continually triggered when we experience events similar to the difficult experiences we have been through. Sometimes the memory itself is long forgotten, but the painful feelings such as anxiety, panic, anger or despair are continually triggered in the present, without us knowing why.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) supports us to reprocess stuck beliefs, physical sensations and emotions in a safe and supportive way.

In addition to its use for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), EMDR has been successfully used to treat:

Anxiety and panic attacks . Depression . Stress . Phobias . Sleep problems . Complicated grief . Relationship Difficulties . Self-esteem and performance anxiety . Sexual dysfunction

Sessions are completely confidential and last 50 to 80 minutes online. The number of sessions is up to you and can be booked in blocks of six sessions or individually.
